T-Minus 4 days...

We are on the final days of the "Baby-Boy-#2" countdown!!! If he does not decide to come on his own (and really, I don't think he will...this one is all tucked up and cozy in my huge tummy), I will be induced at 7 a.m. on Friday morning. That's this Friday, April 29th!!! Day of the Royal Wedding and, more importantly, Grant's Grandpa Jerry's Birthday :D

We had a fantastic Easter Sunday. We decided to start the festivities early this year in hopes that Brendan would make it through the church service with little craziness. Grant and I got up around 5:50 a.m., got the cameras ready to go and then got B up. He jumped out of bed and excitedly found a basket with candy in it, then we "helped" him find the "hidden" Easter Eggs that the Easter Bunny had left around the house. He also got a Playmobil Pirate playset which he has had a great time playing with since he opened it up yesterday morning!

Brendan and his Easter Basket :D

We then got dressed for church; this year I followed some blog tutorials to make him a vest and bowtie. If I do say so myself, they turned out pretty CUTE! I made them using a ladies seersucker skirt (the green and white stripes) and linen shirt (for the inside lining) that I found at the Shalom Shop! I've never attempted to sew something like this before, but I was very happy with the results. I used the following tutorials: Make it Love it Vest instructions, etc... and Dana Made It for the pattern, which I adjusted to fit B better; Prudent Baby for the bowtie.

We decided to go to Grant's Grandma Dorothy's church for their Easter festivities this year. We did the early 7:30 a.m. service (Pastor Keith at Calvary Lutheran at Rush Point keeps it short and sweet, so nice when you have a sugared up 2 1/2 year old in the pew next to you!!!) and then had a nice breakfast at the church (eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice and rolls). After breakfast there was a quick Easter Egg hunt. So much fun! I don't have the pictures, yet, but Brendan's good friend Hannah also goes to Grandma Dorothy's church, so we have some cute pictures of the two of them together in their Easter finest :D After church, we checked out the scene at Rush Lake and then headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Lindberg's for the day. The Easter Bunny also left eggs and toys for B to find over there. He was one busy Bunny this year!

This is one of my favorite shots from the day...see how HUGE my tummy is. My back is non-too-happy right about now and my fingers and feet are so swollen no matter how much water I drink a day, but it's almost over!!!

We had a wonderful day and LOVED the gorgeous weather. While B did not get his usual 3 hour nap...he did fall asleep last night at around 8:15 p.m. and slept through the night.

My nesting instincts have been in full bloom and my house thanks me for it...all of the bedrooms have been dusted and vacuumed, the living room and sun room are clean and vacuumed and the kitchen is getting to be close to spotless. B and I will be heading outside to play today and tackle some of the post-winter clean up of the yard. Not too much, though...I get pretty tired very quickly!

That's all for now folks...

Getting Crafty

Thanks to a scrapbooking/Facebook friend, I stumbled upon the very addictive world of crafting blogs. Very dangerous, but very fun! Since that time, I have begun to follow a plethora of talented crafty bloggers to get ideas for some really fun crafts. (I'm up to 19 blogs so far with new ones popping up every day...) I've made a few projects for some crafty fun:

Brendan's Tool belt ala Make it and Love it

A Wonderpets Cape ala Sprout Online

Thrift store shirts into...
A girl's spring outfit...I used this tutorial to make the skirt Make it and Love it and took tips from a few different blogs for the fabric flowers on the "broach".

I'm entering this outfit in Family Pathways' Re-purposing Contest! Wish me luck ;D

I have a few more projects that I'm also working on/beginning work on:

1. a Pirate Vest for B...he's so into Pirates right now (thanks to Disney Junior's new show "Jake and the Neverland Pirates")

2. This vest: Make it and Love it - Reversible Vest for B for Easter. I found a women's seer sucker green and white skirt and a white linen shirt at the Shalom Shop (church run thrift store in town) for a grand total of $3 to use for this project. My sister made her son one and liked how it turned out...can't wait to start on mine! I'm also going to make B a bow-tie from this tutorial here: Delia Creates - Li'l Mister Bowtie

3. These hot and cold packs from Just Another Hang up. The Chick-sicle and the Love Bird

Stay tuned for other great ideas from the crafty blog world...I am OBSESSED!!!

:D

Random Stuff

*This past week was BRUTAL! B had a cold starting late the week before, and by Monday night was running a very high fever (105 an hour after giving him a bath and ibuprofen). We called into the clinic and they had us give him 1/2 tsp. more of the ibuprofen and 1 1/2 tsp. of Tylenol...wait 30 minutes and see if that brought the fever down. It did thankfully...and it looked like it was gone the next morning. Tuesday late afternoon=more fever (luckily nothing as high as the night before and the meds were doing their job of bringing it down), then Wednesday morning no fever, but after lunch = fever shot back up to 103.5. I brought him in to the same day clinic as it was just not going away (he also had a very runny nose, watery, bloodshot eyes and a bad cough). We went in and the Doctor checked him out. She was saying that she wouldn't be able to determine what was wrong with him until after he had had the fevers for 48 hours...I told her that it had been 48 hours and she immediately ordered all the gambit of tests. We got to do a strep test, blood draw and chest x-rays. We went back to see the doctor and she said the tests didn't really show anything. Go home and keep giving him the ibuprofen/Tylenol, but come back tomorrow if his fever reaches anything over 102.5. So we went home. Around 4:45 she called us and wanted us to come right in to get a urine sample. We went right in...and just barely got enough pee in the cup for the test (I'm thankful that we have been "working" on potty training with B...he's not totally getting it yet, but he knows at least what to do when he's on the potty). We went back to the Doctor's office and waited for the test to come back. There were levels of things in his urine that suggested he was fighting some type of infection somewhere, so we left with a prescription in hand. And get this...It is is FIRST EVER PRESCRIPTION. Weird, crazy huh?!? I can't believe we made it almost 3 years without one prescription for this little boy!!! We are very blessed with a healthy child, that's for sure. :D And the antibiotics have done their job. He hasn't had a fever since Thursday night and he is definitely feeling better!!!

*Both Grant and I also caught whatever B had, but not as bad...

*We are 3-5 weeks away from adding the newest Lindberg to the family. We're still narrowing down names, getting the nursery ready and I've been cleaning out a few closets around here to fill out my general nesting instincts!

*I am obsessed with blogs right now that have tutorials for re-purposing/sewing/making fun things for kids. I have a few projects brewing in my brain right now that just want to be made...hopefully I can get one done this week to enter in the Re-purposing Contest at Family Pathways!

*B, Grant and I are all DYING to go to Disney World.

*B is also obsessed with Target (the store), Pirates, Lego guys, Trains, Dinosaurs, helping to bake things in the kitchen and just about anything else that catches his eye day to day right now.

*B's sense of humor has really taken wing lately. Last night we found him in his playroom, watching a movie with his diaper on his head...A few weekends ago, his nose was runny and out of nowhere he says "Hey, get back here nose!" and giggled at himself...He's also told me to turn down my music in the car "Cause I can't read my choo-choo paper!"; while I was laughing hysterically he said "I funny, mommy?". Yes you are little buddy, yes you are!

31 Weeks...

I am now 31 weeks along in my second pregnancy. It's too early yet, but I am so ready to be done being pregnant! It feels like I've been pregnant FOREVER this time around for some strange reason. I think it has to do with the fact that I've had gestational diabetes for most of the pregnancy. Watching most all of the things that I put in my mouth...counting the number of carb choices I can have per meal. And I'm SOOOO hungry all the time, I feel like this time around. I have been walking on the treadmill at least 4-5 times a week to help control the GD, but I still need to take insulin before I go to bed at night to help with my "fasting" blood sugar numbers in the morning. Since I am taking insulin, I will be induced at around 38 weeks for sure. Brendan decided to come on his own on the first day of my 36 week...so, I have between 5 to 7 weeks we figure before this baby is born. WHEW I am so not ready!!! ;D

I cannot wait for Brendan to meet his new brother. We have yet to figure out a name of our second bundle of joy, but as B informed me this afternoon "We figure it out at hospital." He's just too smart sometimes! :D On the Brendan front, he is now in his big boy bedroom and the switch has been great. We decided to leave the "nursery" as the "nursery" (a bedroom right across the hall from our room) and to move B to the extra bedroom just down the hall. It took some cleaning and rearranging, but it is done and he loves his new room. We are looking forward to him starting preschool in the fall...got him all signed up and in the morning section we were hoping for at Cambridge. He is so excited and so am I. He will even have a few of his best friends in the same section (hopefully the same class, too!) and us mommies will be able to get a much needed break and "mommy time" on Tues/Thurs this fall.

Ramblings on Monday

It's been a couple of weeks since my last post. I just do not know where in the world time goes?! Add to that the fact that baby #2 is T-minus 2 1/2 months away from DD-day (that's due date day!) and it's all I can do NOT to freak out. Freaking out aside, we are enjoying the winter weather with lots of love in our house and fun activities going on all the time.

Some things we have been up to recently include:

Playing games of Muppets Yahtzee, in which B ALWAYS wins. My sister-in-laws family gave this to us for Christmas and we have had so much fun "teaching" Brendan how to play the game. He loves it and in his second game, first two turns, rolled back to back Yahtzees!!!

I finally finished a cape project that I have been thinking about doing for Brendan since before Christmas. This is a "Wonderpets" cape from one of B's favorite T.V. shows of the same name. He's been running around the house making all sorts of flying noises and terrorizing the dog :D

Another project that I just completed using my *gasp* sewing machine is this toolbelt. I stumbled upon a great blog that has tutorials for all sorts of sewing/re-purposing projects and just HAD to make this one right away! (if you are interested in this sort of thing...the site is http://www.makeit-loveit.com/ )

We made a trip down to the Children's Museum a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of friends and Brendan had the time of his life. Running from exhibit to exhibit, playing with everything he could get his hands on. He especially liked being able to draw on his own face! Look at how much he was concentrating on getting it just right :D

Hanging out in our jammies with slippers on is a must around here. Every morning, Brendan enjoys helping me make breakfast. He gets his "stool" and we put it in his spot. Then he helps me to carry an egg from the fridge, being careful not to drop it. He chats away as I crack the eggs (sometimes he gets a chance to do that too) and cook the eggs. It is the one meal in the day that I know he will eat the whole thing of, which is wonderful :D

So, that is our life as it stands right now. This Friday I have my monthly baby doctor appointment. After this one, I will be going in every 2 weeks until the baby decides he's ready to see the world. So unbelievably crazy that I'm that far along already!

Baby #2...

And it's a BOY!

First set of pics are of the face and profile, second set of pics are the foot and hand and the last pic is the $$$ Shot (it actually shows part of the umbilical cord along with the "boy part" :D).

We are so excited to be adding another little boy to our testosterone filled house! Brendan can't wait to play choo-choos, watch Spiderman and play games with his little brother. We have yet to figure out a name, but we're not too worried about it at this point.

I am now 23 weeks along and have been doing great. I have gestational diabetes again, but is has been controlled with diet, exercise and now a little bit of insulin before I go to bed at night. Since I'm doing the insulin, though, they will induce me at 38 weeks...which, if I get that far, will be Easter weekend.

At this point in my pregnancy, I have actually lost 3 pounds due to the fact that I'm dieting and exercising as much as I should. Nothing to worry about at all, as everything with the baby is great!

My Little Buzz

This wonderful costume has been hidden away in B's closet since he was about a month old. I found it at a garage sale and have been dreaming about the day he could wear it. SADLY, that day is here...it is still big on him, but it fits and he had a BLAST zooming around the house with his wings on last night. I asked him if he wanted to wear the costume for Halloween next year and he said "Yeah, Woody last year, Buzz next!"

We're gearing up here to move the Big boy into his Big Boy room. We're just a little over 3 months until the new baby will most likely be here and want to make that transition with plenty of time to adjust. He is very excited and likes to check out his big boy room whenever he can. Right now it is our DVD/CD/whatever else we can squeeze in there Storage room. We're making little baby steps in being able to move that stuff out and put him in the room. We've cleaned up part of the basement in order to figure out what else we need to move around to put the CDs and DVDs downstairs. Next we will move the rest of the stuff around in the basement, move the CDs/DVDs/ETC. downstairs and finally move B's stuff into his new room. It's pretty exciting, but nerve racking at the same time, since he does like to get up and out of his room way too early some days and we usually don't hear him...time to break out the monitor in the kitchen or something!

Well, now I'm going to post pics of the new baby from our Ultrasound we had about a month ago!!! :D
